Role Description:

The Rainbow Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub Research Officer (REKH ORO) role is focused on providing support to the Rainbow Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub’s ongoing research and

work to support and connect 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs across Canada. This role is focused on assisting REKH with recruiting 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs across

Newfoundland and Labrador to participate in surveys, focus groups, knowledge shares, and workshops to better understand and support this part of our community.

This role will assist with REKH’s additional goals of the creation of a national, accessible and

bilingual, database of resources and supports for 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, the identification

of additional research and gaps in knowledge, and the conduction of research to improve data

and enable social change.

This role is a part-time, temporary contract, position based inside Quadrangle NL’s Entrepreneurship Training Program. The incumbent will be given a schedule of roughly 12 hours

per week. The successful applicant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Responsible for the oversight and development of the program through establishing policies and best practices

Oversight of project budget

Responsible for overall integrity of the project

Communications and evaluation of the program

Work with Entrepreneurship System Mapping Officer to assist in development of

“Business in a Box” project by providing data from caseload

Identification of entrepreneurs and creation of working groups, focus groups, and other

research focused networking events

Support with growing and maintaining the “Inqueeries” database of queer owned and queer friendly businesses in region Support REKH with all research tasks assigned, and with data entry of database Collect data on the needs of the community Responsible for analysis results of the project through the creation and dissemination reports to our partners and various governmental departments. Provide written reports to the Executive Director as required and in project reporting when required by funders This role will be part of Quadrangle NL’s research and data mobilization team. This role can be hybrid, or fully-remote pending negotiation.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

●Experience within and for the Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse community as well as the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities of NL

● Experience with entrepreneurship, small business growth, and/or the local business sector

●Ability to work with and apply a social justice, anti-racist, anti-colonialist framework and lens to the tasks of the role

●Strong organizational skills

●Strong strategic thinking abilities

●Strong written and oral communication skills

●Evidence of ability to take initiative

●Research and data collection experience

●Evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively

Additional assets include:

●Experience with 2SLGBTQIA+ community and barriers faced

●Experience in the local small business and entrepreneurial environment

●Research experience

●Design and copy editing skills

● Experience with Excel, Microsoft Word, Zoom and social media platforms

This is a part-time position for 12 hours per week. Compensation for this position is $26.40/hr.
