This is the fifth of several outreach sessions as we speak with community members from across the province.

So if you are from the Northern region of Labrador please come to this outreach event. We want to know what you want and need from a 2SLGBTQIA+ provincial community centre.

Elena Vigna Sanchez (she/her): is a queer Mexican musician residing in St. John’s, NL. As a violinist, she came to Canada in 2017 to pursue a master’s degree in music in Performance/Pedagogy. Not having enough of the amazing faculty at Memorial University School of Music, she then completed a second master’s degree on Violin Performance. Since September of 2021, Elena has been playing with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra as a member of the second violin section. Elena has performed in several orchestras in Mexico and Canada and her passion for teaching has taken her to places like South Korea and the Philippines. She currently holds her private violin teaching studio in St. John’s. Elena lives with her partner and their plants and she finds joy knowing fun facts about the human body.

Ainsley Hawthorn (she/her): is a bisexual author and cultural historian based in St. John's. She writes for CBC, blogs for Psychology Today, and edited the critically acclaimed anthology Land of Many Shores: Perspectives from a Diverse Newfoundland and Labrador.

Valveeta (she/her): is a crafty comedy queen from St. John’s, Newfoundland. She has been a part of the local scene since 2018 and performs regularly with several drag houses in the city.

​​Barbra Bardot (she/her): a come from away loving life on the Rock, moved to St. John’s in August of 2020. After performing in drag downtown Toronto for 2 years professionally and a background in musical theatre performance, Barbra can now be seen strutting her stuff and dazzling audiences regularly in the St. John’s area and abroad. Barbra Bardot breaks boundaries and brings boundless, BLISS with her BOLD BEAUTY (and a bit of Broadway!) Known for sickening lip syncs and high-energy performances, Barbra cannot wait to be a part of this event with Quadrangle NL!
