Our three Mandated pillars are:
To address and prevent specific problems faced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals by establishing and operating a community centre with structured programs including social support groups, information programs on sexuality, peer counselling and mentoring as well as referral services based on their identified needs and goals.
To advance education and raise awareness about specific problems faced by the community by providing education seminars for the general public.
To address 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals unemployment by providing job skills training and employment assistance based on their identified needs.

Trans Navigator: Gender Affirming Program

Trans Navigator: Gender Affirming Program (GAP) initiative is a 14-month role with the possibility of extension depending on funding. (Contractually Limited).

Contract Description:
Trans Navigator: Gender Affirming Program (GAP) role will support Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse community members in Newfoundland and Labrador at all stages of their individual journeys. The Trans Navigator: Gender Affirming Program (GAP) will be available for peer support, guiding community members through governmental system processes, and services in gender affirming care. This program will help provide (or cover the cost of) select Gender Affirming Care options from a curated list of possibilities, as well as access to social and community programming designed to support well-being from Quadrangle NL and other 2SLGBTQIA+ supportive organizations.
Trans Navigator: Gender Affirming Program (GAP) will increase access to support and connection for Trans Newfoundlander and Labradorians through a dedicated Quadrangle NL staff member and services.
Project Activities:
Complete in-person outreach in rural/remote areas of province
Offer peer support and system navigation to participants
Enable support people to accompany participants to meetings and procedures
Collect and review data on the Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse
community of NL and determine needs and best practices for supports and services
Advocate to service providers/governments to improve gender affirming care for Two
Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse individuals
Provide specific support and system navigation to Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse individuals who intersect with other marginalized populations, e.g. a newcomer
Create resources and education opportunities for service providers
Create a network of Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse
community participants to reduce isolation
The successful applicant responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
● Responsible for overseeing and developing of the program through establishing policies
and best practices
● Oversight of project budget
● Responsible for overall integrity of the project
● Develop and deliver the program to enable access to items/services such as but not
limited to:
○ Binders, packers, breast forms, etc.
○ Official document and name changes
○ Voice therapy
○ Hair, makeup, beard care and lessons
○ Clothing
○ Coverage for local transportation to Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and
gender diverse care-related appointments
○ Short-term counselling (e.g., 2-4 sessions per person)
● Communications and Evaluation of the program
● Build relationships with Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse
individuals and supportive agencies across the province
● Collect data on the needs of the community
● Responsible for analysis results of the project through the creation and dissemination
reports to our partners and various governmental departments.
● Support in ensuring the sustainability of the program beyond the 24 months
● Peer support and group facilitation
● Provide written reports to the Executive Director as required and in project reporting
when required by funders
● Work with community partners to best support the community to access the program
● Develop dedicated resources to support the Trans community
This role requires some paid travel across the island of Newfoundland and within Labrador and some travel nationally. Access to a vehicle is required for this role.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
● Experience within and for the Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse
community as well as the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities of NL
● Ability to work with and apply a social justice, anti-racist, anti-colonialist framework and
lens to the tasks of the role
● Strong organizational skills
● Strong strategic thinking abilities
● Strong written and oral communication skills
● Peer support experience
● Evidence of ability to take initiative
● Research and data collection experience
● Evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively
Additional assets include:
● Experience with 2SLGBTQIA+ Healthcare Needs
● Experience with the provincial healthcare system
● Financial management experience
● Design and copy editing skills
● Experience with Excel, Microsoft Word, Zoom and social media platforms
Compensation is $60,000 annually, including healthcare benefits, paid-time off, winter break and RRSP.
Quadrangle NL operates a Community Centre for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, the successful applicant will be responsible to be in the centre for several shifts per week to ensure they are able to meet the needs of the community and connect with program participants.
